Kirsten E. Teklits earned her Master of Social Work degree from the University of Pennsylvania. During her graduate studies, she focused on the treatment of substance abuse and trauma through an internship working with substance abusing adolescents and their families.
Kirsten has over 7 years of experience working with clients with anxiety, depression, PTSD and substance abuse. In her clinical practice, she principally provides cognitive behavior therapy (CBT) to treat adults and adolescents with diverse mental health problems but also utilizes other evidence-based psychotherapeutic treatment modalities based on each client’s specific challenges. These additional treatment modalities include but are not limited to motivational interviewing, acceptance and commitment therapy, dialectical behavioral therapy (DBT) and mindfulness.
Kirsten’s goal is to educate and motivate clients and to help them change their unhelpful thoughts and behaviors so that they can live a happier life that is consistent with their values. Kirsten also enjoys coaching educators to understand children’s challenging behaviors through a Trauma-Informed Lens.
